Preparation for U-17 Women's Asian Cup in April

The Korea Football Association announced on the 5th that the women's U-17 national soccer team will play three friendly matches in Portugal starting on the 17th.

The women's U-17 national team, led by coach Kim Eun-jung, is scheduled to leave Korea on the 11th and play against Portugal on the 17th and 22nd, and against Ireland's women's U-17 national team on the 19th.

The match venues are Tox Novas and Santarem, both near Lisbon.

The women's U-17 national team is preparing for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-17 Women's Asian Cup to be held in Indonesia in April.

The national team advanced to the Asian Cup finals after winning both the first qualifying round in April and the second qualifying round in September last year.

Eight teams will participate in the U-17 Women's Asian Cup, and the top three teams will participate in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup to be held in the Dominican Republic in October.

Korea won the first FIFA tournament in Korean soccer history at the 2010 U-17 Women's World Cup held in Trinidad and Tobago thanks to the performances of Yeo Min-ji, Lee Geum-min, and Jang Seul-gi.

At the most recently held 2022 U-17 World Cup, they failed to advance to the finals.

A total of 23 players will participate in this trip to Portugal, including Da-eun Kwon and Joo-eun Won (Ulsan Hyundai High School), who were called by coach Colin Bell last year and gained experience with the A national team.

Korea Hee (Ulsan Hyundai Cheongwoon Middle School), born in 2009, who appeared on 'Golden Eleven', a TV program to discover soccer prospects co-produced by the Korea Football Association and tvN, is the youngest.
